January 2026 | Tarotscopes

This month’s tarotscopes were pulled from the Rainbow Tarot deck by So Lazo (guidebook by Cyrée Jarelle Johnson). The cards were pulled by Phim Her.

  • 10 of Pentacles, Reverse

Where are you losing your patience, Aries? You have a lot of ambition, but it looks like you’re feeling stuck or confused about how to get to your end goal. I want to advise you to let go of your fears and scarcity mindset. Instead, act as if it will all work out. Move as if you are blessed and divinely guided, as if you will have all the protections in place to keep you moving in the right direction. Don’t self-sabotage yourself by living from a place of fear; usually, that kind of mentality is what will lead to negative outcomes. Learn from the Fool card of the Major Arcana and be more carefree.

  • 9 of Cups, Upright

Congratulations, Taurus! Looks like you’re easing into a season of indulgence–one that has been hard earned! It may be hard to resist the Earth sign temptation to start plotting your next big idea or project, but take a moment to breathe and enjoy the splendor of life. Knowing you, you manifested every detail, then brought it to life. Don’t be so hard on yourself that you forget to notice and celebrate all that you’ve accomplished.

  • Queen of Pentacles, Upright

Dear Geminis, a bunny is sitting at the foot of this particular Queen of Pentacles card design. Rabbits symbolize fertility and multiplication, which reminds me of your nickname: The Twins. Are you stretching yourself too thin because you are committing yourself to too many things or people at once?--pulled in too many directions to the point where you may feel distracted from your path? Given that you are an Air sign, it may feel more fun to live up in the clouds with your ideas and fantasies. Just remember to come back down to earth to make things happen. You have the resources and ability to do anything right now, but having a sharper sense of focus and prioritization will help you see things through.

  • Ace of Swords, Upright

Seize the day, Cancer signs! An evil eye appears on the hand of this Ace of Swords card design, which tells me that you have been given a special vision and message from the universe. Trust that you have been blessed with a divine mission and voice for a reason–and that you are the rightful spokesperson for the job. What is weighing on your heart and mind? The sword in this card represents the sword of justice and swift communication, built on a sense of truth. It feels urgent. Say the thing, cut the fluff and don’t apologize for it, even if this may feel like a departure from your tender Water sign energy.

  • Queen of Swords, Reverse

My dear Leos, have you been too harsh with others or yourself lately? Or perhaps more withdrawn than usual? This card has a lot of blue tones, which contrast with your usual Fire sign hues of orange and red. I wonder if you are feeling out of sorts, internalizing your feelings rather than engaging with the external world. Give yourself some time to cool off, but remember to build a bridge back to your loved ones. The real ones will understand. They will forgive what is necessary (especially if you’ve had a harsh or awkward exchange in recent times), and they will create space for even the darker side of your heart and mind. Remember to reach out rather than cut people off. When you do this, you cut yourself off from community and connection.

  • Four of Pentacles, Upright

Oh sweet Virgo! You seem to be feeling quite stubborn, which is par the course for most Earth signs. I say that not as a jab, but as an observation. Virgos are mutable signs, as opposed to fixed signs in the zodiac. However, your tarotscope suggests that you are acting or feeling inflexible and thus more like a fixed sign. That said, mutable signs are typically more amenable to change and transitions. Ask yourself why you may be feeling hesitant or hostile to a certain facet of life right now–and how this may be holding you back. By naming and processing what is happening, you may find that you feel less exhausted, alas!

  • Eight of Pentacles, Reverse

Is it true, Libras? Have you rescued yourself from a season of self-sabotage or petulant self-criticism? This card (especially in a reversed position) suggests that someone has been sulking over their imperfections. If you have been feeling like this–or finally learning how to overcome this nasty mindset, I applaud you. It takes a lot to get over our mental traps and patterns. If you still feel stuck here, I want to encourage you to borrow from your Fire sign cousins. In layman’s terms, forget about aesthetic perfection or performative behavior. In its place, choose joyful “messiness” and imperfections. Otherwise, you’ll be trying to perfect how to open an umbrella on a rainy day when you could have been marveling at a silver lining or a rainbow just beyond the storm clouds.

  • Seven of Pentacles, Upright

Oh my, Scorpios! It looks like you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed about what you’ve gotten into. The Seven of Pentacles suggests that you are tempted to fight or negotiate with fate. The reality is that we cannot force outcomes, even when we dearly want to. Instead, all we can do is 1) trust the process and 2) reroute if and when we find that we are unhappy with the results. Instead of ruminating about whether or not things will work out perfectly, I want to encourage you to remember that you are more than capable of overcoming anything. You are your own natural resource of creativity and strategy. Trust that you will find your way, whether or not your investments pan out as desired. Why sweat the little things when you already know the big picture’s going to be great?

  • Wheel of Fortune, Reversed

Have you been feeling stuck, Sagittariuses? Your Wheel of Fortunes are showing up in mid-cycle and mid-air. The imagery in this deck also reminds me of the upside-down Hanged Man card in the Major Arcana. Perhaps you needed to see things from a different perspective, or to experience something that you are not used to. While you may not enjoy feeling stuck or being in this tough position, I get the feeling that the universe has intentionally placed you here to learn or metabolize something. Remember that this, too, shall pass. In the meantime, try to see this as a pit stop and a learning moment rather than a punishment or forced stop.

  • Four of Wands, Reversed

It looks like there’s been some trouble in paradise, Capricorn. Usually, all’s well on the homestead for you. However, it feels like there’s a leak, or some discord from within. While this may feel alarming or disconcerting, the truth is that you needed to see the cracks in the foundation. This card reminds me of the Tower card in the Major Arcana. Sometimes we need wake-up calls to snap us out of a reverie. Reality may not feel pretty, but it holds us accountable to what is in front of us. My hope is that, if you do this, you will realize that it can be rewarding and delicious to live in the ugly but beautiful truths of lives vs. the pretty but flavorless (and artificial) fantasy of our reveries. While this language is floaty and flowery, I hope you understand how bitter and raw this choice can be. May you choose to take the red pill.

  • Two of Swords, Reversed

Happy Birthday, Aquariuses! The Two of Swords represents a high priestess at a spiritual crossroads. She has to make a decision. If you have been hesitant or nervous to act on something, remember that you have the natural gift of intuition. That is one of your signature traits. Lean into your cosmic gifts and choose the path that feels most aligned with your purpose. What will help you progress forward?--even if it comes with a bit of a pinch or a punch? I get the feeling that whichever path you choose will help you grow into an even wiser version of yourself. Ultimately, this experience will help you guide and support more folks. That is the blessing and the curse of being the zodiac’s Water Bearer.

  • Strength, Upright

Wow, Pisces! You have the lion’s roar showing up in your reading. It’s time to rebalance your inner yin and yang–and to consider if you have been bold enough. Through the Strength card, the universe is asking you to take up more space if you’ve been hanging back or holding back. Where is your shine? Where is your voice? We want to be a witness to your glory! Additionally, think of this as a “yes and.” The Strength card is not telling you to give up the tenderest and most shy parts of your humanity. Instead, it asks you to be an even more dynamic and integrated version of yourself. You can be both an angel and a lion in one breath. You can gracefully swim upstream, just like your zodiac’s nickname: The Fish.
